SF Tebby & Son increases revenue significantly, using Rotronics Battery Management Programme
The initial investment of around £1,000 for the Midtronics CPX900ROBISP, plus a £240 annual ROBIS subscription can easily be justified by the revenue it generates.
Established in 1971 independent automotive workshop in Bristol, SF Tebby & Son made the investment a few months ago and now offers free battery testing with any service, and a £10 fee for standalone fixes. This approach, combined with a battery replacement rate of around 30%, translates into significant new revenue. Jack Bryant, assistant manager of the garage said, “the tester paid for itself within a month. The revenue opportunities are incredible, and we have confidence in the results we provide to our customers.”
Since implementing programme in January, SF Tebby has conducted almost 1,000 battery tests, identifying issues in approximately 40 per cent of vehicles tested. Taking a best practice approach they test every vehicle that comes in, not just those with battery related issues. This proactive approach allows them to catch potential problems early and offer solutions before they become major issues. Customers appreciate this level of service, and it enhances the garage’s reputation for reliability and thoroughness. The detailed printouts provided by the Midtronics CPX900ROBISP also play a crucial role in upselling opportunities. When customers see the clear report of their battery test supported with a quick ‘traffic light’ guide to the results of the criteria tested, they are more likely to agree to necessary replacements or charging services. This builds trust and makes it easier for the garage to explain the need for additional services.
The integration of the Midtronics CPX900ROBISP battery tester and ROBIS (Rotronics Online Battery Information System) has enhanced customer satisfaction, boosted performance, and has driven revenue growth. As vehicles become more complex and their electrical demands increase, a robust and accurate battery tester that not only analyses battery starting ability but also ‘reserve capacity’ (the ability of the battery to support electronic functions when the alternator is not engaged) is an essential workshop tool.
For SF Tebby & Son, the decision to invest in the Midtronics CPX900ROBISP has paid off handsomely and is a great demonstration of how workshops can generate additional revenue and customer satisfaction for a modest investment.
