Over the next decade we will continue to see a shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. This is already presenting exciting new challenges and opportunities to workshops and service centres across the automotive industry.
As more drivers make the move to EV's, the need for reliable vehicle diagnostics has increased in recent years as service centres haven't had the training and equipment to service this 'new' vehicle type. We have been working closely with customers and leading EV Service Tool Manufacturers to not only provide workshops with necessary service options but also grow awareness of EV battery maintenance across the industry.
Powering every EV is both a large 'traction' battery pack which deals with propulsion and a 12V battery supporting all critical systems. Ensuring that these systems are in their best condition is vital to ensure battery pack and vehicle health and longevity.
If you would like to know more about how you can service and maintain Electric Vehicles in your workshop, contact a member of our team.
Ensure EV battery pack performance and longevity with Midtronics latest EV innovation, xMB-9640 Module Balancer. The main 'propulsion' battery in EV's is a large pack made up of lots of smaller batteries called modules. All of the modules need to perform at the same rate and have simular state of health. If one module is performing poorly, this can decrease the range per charge and could decrease the overall battery pack health.
Using Midtronics groundbreaking technologies, xMB-9640 can test each module individually and give you an overview of each cells state of health and if one is 'out of balance' xMB will either start safely and efficiently charging or discharging the module.
Compared to a full battery pack service, xMB-9640 offers a simplified service process with a clear and simple to use touchscreen display, decreases repair times and reduces customer expense.
xMB-9640 will be launching in 2025 and will be available for all service centres. Rotronics will be offering a full training programme. To find out more get in contact with our team.
In Electric Vehicles, the 12V battery is used to operate all systems and functions outside propulsion, including safety systems and without sufficient Amp-Hour (Ah) battery capacity these systems will fail.
Why do you need xLVS-9000 instead of a standard 12V battery tester? xLVS-9000 accuratley estimates EV 12V auxillary capacity and with increasing numbers of EV's on the roads in the UK, there is an increasing need for safe and effective 12V EV battery services. SafetyPower Diagnostics™, Midtronics new 12V diagnostic technology, is the only available solution to accuratley diagnose 12V batteries in Electric Vehicles.
