2023, in review
2023 has been a been a busy year for us at Rotronics. Thank you to everyone for your support and we look forward to a successful 2024!
So, what did we get up to in 2023?
Trade Shows
Trade shows allow us to talk face to face with other industry professionals about how we can help support workshops to reduce enhance their customer service and increase revenue at the same time. In 2023 we exhibited at 2 of the UK’s busiest shows, Automechanika and Mechanex!
In June we visited Automechanika at the NEC in Birmingham. We spent 3 days talking to hundreds of people about the importance of maintaining batteries and showing CTEK’s latest EV charger, the Chargestorm 2.
Later in the year, we exhibited at Mechanex in Sandown Park. Vehicle manufacturers are taking big leaps towards the future of electric vehicles and this has left workshops worried about how and if they will be able to service them. A lot of people don’t know that the 12v battery is still present in EV’s and if not managed correctly then they will face the same issues as ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles. We took the opportunity to discuss with visitors how they can still service EV’s via the 12v battery. Our Managing Director, Ken even took to the stage at PMM Live to talk about how to get 12v EV ready!
Commercial Talks
Our Managing Director & battery management expert, Ken has written and presented twice this year about current battery management topics.
Starting off in April, Ken was invited to talk at the Commercial Vehicle Show with his presentation titled ‘Batteries – it’s not you it’s me’. This presentation delved into the most common causes of battery failure and how workshops can implement processes to reduce the risk of battery failure.
Our next talk took place at PMM Live during our visit to Mechanex. Titled ‘Getting 12v EV Ready’, Ken spoke more in-depth about how vital the 12v battery is in Electric Vehicles. Using data from our ROBIS system and breakdown providers, Ken provided listeners with the information they need to support their businesses going forward.
CTEK EV Engineers Visit
We work closely with our partners at CTEK to not only promote and support CTEK’s low voltage products, but also configure their EV chargers for UK customers. In June, a few CTEK engineers visited us from Sweden to share information with our service team and also to speak to us about CTEK’s future EV plans within the UK. We have been working closely with CTEK and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship.
Midtronics Senior Team Visit
Midtronics is of our strongest business partners with a relationship spanning over 20 years. As their exclusive service partner in the UK, we work closely with them to support customers with Midtronics equipment. In September, we were visited by some of the team. Throughout their visit we had meetings regarding new products and opportunities, and our service team had the opportunity to learn the latest developments from the Midtronics engineers.
During their visit, they awarded Rotronics with the Midtronics ‘Authorised Service Partner’ qualification. Their first in Europe.
NEW DEFA Products launched
Maintaining a vehicles battery in a dealership poses a unique challenge. Customers want to get a hands on experience with these vehicles, testing the new technology that puts pressure on the 12v battery. Battery failure can be common in dealerships due to the fact that the vehicles aren’t running and not supporting the battery, so implementing discreet yet efficient charging solutions is important.
After a lot of research and testing, we found DEFA’s range of showroom chargers would work best to suit dealerships needs. DEFA is a family owned Norwegian company dating back to 1946. Their mission is to be the bridge between problems and solutions and using that mission DEFA has grown from a small family business to the innovative global business it is today.
DEFA’s chargers are designed to be discreet and powerful, yet silent with a fan-less design. This makes these chargers perfect for showrooms.
